Bio
Keeley Chiasson is a master’s student in the geology department at Western Washington University (WWU), where she studies coastal bluff erosion along the Tulalip Tribal Reservation shoreline near Marysville, Washington. She received her bachelor’s degree in geology at WWU in 2019, and prior to starting her master’s program, worked in river restoration with Chelan County Natural Resources as a project technician. In her free time, Keeley loves creating art through ceramics and enjoys recreating through mountain biking, trail running, climbing and backcountry snowboarding.
Keeley is interested in coastal geomorphology and how rising sea levels are going to affect beaches and intertidal habitats throughout the Puget Sound. Her research focuses on understanding the processes that are driving coastal bluff erosion to better project future bluff change and associated erosion, as well as the influence bluff-derived sediment has on intertidal habitats along the Tulalip Tribes Reservation shoreline.
