Rebecca Hutchinson

Bio

Rebecca Hutchinson leads a team of students developing and applying machine learning methodology in service of ecology and conservation. Her research interests include how to leverage citizen science data for species distribution models, how best to evaluate models across landscapes, and how to model the structure of species interaction networks. At Oregon State, she holds a joint position across the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science and the Department of Fisheries, Wildlife, and Conservation Sciences. Before that, she received a doctorate in computer science from Carnegie Mellon University and a bachelor’s degree from Bucknell University. Outside of research, Rebecca enjoys knitting, hiking and camping with her family.
