Drew Lyons grew up in Olympia, Washington and spent much of his childhood in the forests and mountains of Western Washington. Drew attended the University of Washington for his undergraduate education and received a BS in Biology with a focus in ecology, evolution, and conservation, and went on to work for the Washington DNR before returning to school to pursue a Master’s degree.
Drew’s experience at the UW HilleRisLambers lab piqued his interest in tree species range responses to climate change. His research is focused on understanding and quantifying drought response in trees and seedlings, and how to increase forest resilience in the face of environmental stressors. In his free time you can find Drew playing guitar, hiking, climbing, playing soccer, running, or drinking a beer in a hammock if the weather’s nice.
