Bio
Fiona Noonan is a master’s student in the Department of Geosciences and part of the human-environment systems group at Boise State University. Fiona grew up near Portland, Oregon and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Earth Systems and a minor in French from Stanford University. When she’s not doing research, she’s most likely making jam, baking bread, or climbing, running and skiing around the Pacific Northwest.
Fiona’s research explores how disturbances like wildfires and species invasions impact the landscape-scale structure and function of sagebrush-steppe ecosystems in the Northern Great Basin. Her goal is to use an improved understanding of the dynamics among climate, topography, disturbances and restoration efforts to better inform sagebrush management approaches, particularly on public lands. More broadly, she is interested in finding data-driven and scale-appropriate solutions to pressing climate and conservation management problems across the American West.
