Bio

Jared Grummer is a conservation geneticist studying native and invasive trout in the Rocky Mountains. He is generally interested in developing and using molecular tools to conserve and manage wild populations so they can persist into the future. He arrived at his current research interests in conservation through research across the Americas on birds, amphibians and reptiles. He has toured the United States through his education, while getting a Bachelor’s of Science degree from Cornell University, Master’s of Science degree from San Diego State University, and doctorate from the University of Washington. While not researching, he spends an unhealthy amount of time fly fishing (and reading about fishing, and listening to podcasts about fishing, and tying flies), foraging and exploring the great outdoors with his chocolate lab, Sage.
