Bio

Kristen Carlson is from a small town in southeastern Wisconsin called Twin Lakes. Kristen received her undergraduate degree in geoscience from the University of Wisconsin – Parkside in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Her undergraduate research was focused on hydrology and geochemistry, which sparked her interest in continuing down a research-based path. In her free time, Kristen enjoys adventuring with her dog, Ivy Bug, spending time with her friends and family whenever possible and playing the piano.

Kristen is interested in hydrological sciences related to the onset of climate change. She became interested in this area of study while conducting an undergraduate research project assessing the impact of groundwater flow on erosion at the Kenosha Wisconsin Sand Dunes. One of Kristen’s long-term goals is to create a plan for using actionable science to assist communities affected by water resource and quality issues.
