Bio

Michele Buonanduci grew up in New England and holds a bachelor’s in environmental science from Boston University. After working as an environmental consultant for several years, she completed a master’s degree through the quantitative ecology and resource management (QERM) program at the University of Washington (UW). Michele is now a doctoral candidate in the QERM program and the School of Environmental and Forest Sciences at UW. In her free time, Michele enjoys getting outdoors (on foot or on bicycle), reading and painting (poorly) with watercolors.

Michele is interested in using mathematics and statistics to address questions in the field of landscape ecology. Her dissertation research focuses on spatial and temporal patterns of wildfires and bark beetle outbreaks in the western United States. Michele’s research aims to help forest managers prepare for how these forest disturbances and their impacts might change with a warming and drying climate.
