Bio

Sujay is currently pursuing a master’s degree in natural resource sciences at Washington State University, where he is using camera traps to study Canada lynx, bobcats, moose and the broader large-mammal community inhabiting north central Washington. Sujay graduated with his bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M University in 2020, and prior to starting graduate school, spent his time working seasonal wildlife jobs across the U.S. with a broad range of species – from black-tailed prairie dogs to grizzly bears. In his free time, he enjoys playing tennis, backpacking and sleeping.

Sujay is interested in studying the mechanisms of mammalian space use, habitat associations and interspecific interactions under rapidly changing environmental conditions. While he enjoys the process of acquiring knowledge, his primary goal as a scientist is to make a concerted effort to synthesize research with management decisions. He hopes to pursue his research and management interests as a biologist or research scientist with federal agencies in the U.S.
